Oviedo-Winter Springs Regional Chamber of Commerce Announces Entertainment
for the 23rd Annual Taste of Oviedo
Oviedo, Fla. (February 22, 2017) – The Oviedo-Winter Springs Regional Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the entertainment line-up for Taste of Oviedo, presented by Air Flow Designs Heating and Air Conditioning. Taste of Oviedo will take place at Oviedo Mall on Saturday, March 11 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
On the main stage, this year’s opening band is 17-70 followed by Linda McKenzie, Alexa Neilen, Alexander Pantoja, Grindstone Sinners, Griffin Vittone, 13th Floor Band, Bailey Callahan, Greye and a performance by School of Rock. The first band will begin at 10:00 a.m. and the final performance will begin at 5:00 p.m.
On the Kids Taste stage, we will begin with a singing contest at 10:40 a.m. followed by Victory Martial Arts, International Community School, The Music Box, Keeth Elementary, Mr Josh from Sugarcrash Kids, a second singing contest, The Master’s Academy, A Kids Gym, The Music Box and a final performance by Alternative Dance Centre.

Originally from the icy, fir tree laden terrain of northern Michigan, Griffin toured full time throughout the upper Midwest in the late 90’s and 2000’s as an acoustic solo performer and as a lead vocalist for the regionally famous cover band “Nod”. During that span, Griffin had the opportunity to open for several national acts including “Chicago”, “Bad Company” and “Head East” and performed at major music venues including Milwaukee’s “Summerfest” and “Bradley Center”, Green Bay’s legendary “Lambeau field”, and also at popular Midwest ski resorts along with high profile night clubs In Minneapolis, MN.
Griffin has recorded and released two original, full-length solo albums “Turn the Light On” (2004) and “The Long Haul” (2011). Both CD’s are currently available online at all major music stores and can be streamed on most internet radio sites including “Pandora” and “Spotify”. Or, If you happen to be driving through northern Michigan or Wisconsin, there is a good chance you will hear one of the singer/songwriter’s tunes on your car radio.
Currently, Griffin resides in Orlando, FL where he continues to perform as a solo artist and as a member of the band “Micah & the Reason”.
School of Rock
At School of Rock Oviedo, our Performance Program puts our students front-and-center on a real stage for real performances. Students get to show off their killer music skills while learning serious teamwork as they and their bandmates refine their abilities through some of rock and roll’s greatest hits.
Oviedo students will blow your mind with advanced performances chock-full of hits by famous artists such as Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, The Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Frank Zappa, Queen, and many, many more! For our students, real performances breed real skill, and real fun.
The band 17-70 just completed it’s 10th year of performing. The band, formed by members of the Winter Springs Police Department and their families, perform at community events and do fund raising for people and organizations in need.
The band consists of original members John Briggle, Carlos Negron, A.J. Wilkins and Jim Wilkins, along with the newest members, Crystal and Phillip Burkes. Together they continue the tradition of performing simply for the love of music and helping others along the way.
13th Floor Band
The 13th Floor Band has been playing together for over 7 years, and has earned a reputation as one of the best sounding 3-piece bands in Central Florida. They are a combination of seasoned and very reliable professionals that form a tight band featuring pitch perfect vocals, impressive tone, and perfect mix. The 13th Floor Band has been entertaining Central Florida for the last several years with a mix of contemporary, classic rock and dance music that is sure to please!
Alexa Neilen, age 17, is delighted to be performing at The 2017 Taste of Oviedo! Alexa is currently a Senior attending Florida Virtual School. Professionally, Alexa was most recently seen in Bring It On, the musical at The Wayne Densch Center for Performing Arts, and The Winter Springs Winter Wonderland Event. In 2011, Alexa won the triple crown of talent shows: Winter Spring’s Got Talent, Oviedo’s Got Talent and finally Seminole’s Got Talent! Alexa has been performing since age six and has been seen in local theaters all around Central Florida including The Wayne Densch Center for Performing Arts, The Winter Park Playhouse, The Orlando Repertory Theatre, Theatre Downtown, The Greater Orlando Actors Theatre, but she truly enjoys performing for family and friends at events in Oviedo and Winter Springs!
Grindstone Sinners Band
The Grindstone Sinners are a four piece rock band from Debary Florida.Heavily influenced by the spirit of 60s rock-n-roll they write and perform their own songs. Known for electrifying live performances and infectious original songs they are quickly acquiring a loyal fan-base in the central Florida area.
GREYE is made up of vocalist Hannah Summer, guitarist Jett Wolfe, bassist Joshua Reid, and drummer Ray Grimard. Since their inception in 2012, they have rocked crowds both locally and nationwide. They released their first album, “Providence,” in 2014, and since then have gone on to release two more full-length LP’s, “The Tube” in 2015 and “The Worrier” in 2016. With influences like John Butler Trio, YES, Kansas, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and even video games, there is something in their ever-growing discography for everyone to enjoy, no matter your musical preference.
Their rigorous work ethic and busy schedule have come to define them as musicians, with gigs all over the east coast in addition to many countless hours spent in the studio, they still manage to fit in multiple practices each week. They have performed on the coveted stages of the Key West Song Writer’s Festival, Awendaw Green’s Barn Jam in Awendaw, SC, The End in Nashville, TN, The Dock in Ithaca, NY, Freebird Live in Jacksonville, FL, and countless others. Having recently returned home from a month-long tour in the Northeastern United States, they are now getting to work on producing their fourth record, as well as putting together a tour for the summer of 2017.

Currently Linda, is a commercial banker with fifth third bank. In addition she is a board certified chaplain with Central Florida Regional Hospital. Linda is a song writer and recording artist. Linda’s music is a variety of R & B Gospel and Jazz. Linda’s songs can be found on I Tunes, CD Baby and her videos on You Tube. Linda is an Oviedo resident for the past 20 years. People and Music are Linda’s passion.
Bailey Callahan is a 16-year-old Nashville recording artist, singer, song writer and gifted performer. She has opened for Scotty McCreery, Hunter Hayes, Sawyer Brown, performed at the Amway Arena for the Mascott Games; she performs locally in Central Florida and tours throughout the United States. She is returning to Nashville in a few weeks to play at the Taylor Guitar studios, write some new songs and reconnect with her Nashville audience. Her 2nd CD will be released in the summer of 2017. Her 1st CD was also recorded in Nashville with Martina McBrides band backing her. Her music can be found on ITunes, Spotify, CD Baby and her original songs are played regularly on radio stations and internet stations across the country.

Alexander Pantoja, 10yrs old is excited and honored to perform in his hometown Oviedo. At the age of 3, he started singing to all of his family and friends. He loved to perform and sing for them at every party. At the age of 8, Alexander did his first performance in front of a small crowd. Everyone loved it and people encouraged him to pursue his passion for singing. Since then he has been practicing and learning how to play the piano. The year 2016 was an amazing year for him. On June 18th, 2016 he made it to the AAU Baseball Nationals Championship competition winning 3rd Place, when you don’t see him on stage you can find him on a baseball field. He plays baseball everyday and currently trains at Quinco Sports Academy in which he is a part of the travel team. In July 4th 2016, Alexander won 1st place at the Winter Springs Got Talent. Two weeks later on July 15th 2016 he won 2 Titles at the 20th Annual World Championships of Performing Arts competition in California representing USA Team as well as 10 Metals Gold and Silver for performing 5 different types of Genres in singing, also in acting and modeling. Alexander is the 2016 Champion Vocalist of the World and overall 2016 Junior Grand Champion Performer of the World. To round out his Fantastic year 2016, he spent the last 3 months performing internationally in a spectacular Christmas show in Japan. Just for being 10yrs old these were all Great accomplishments for Alexander!! He loves and enjoys singing, acting, modeling and playing baseball.

Arnie is also an M/C for the City of Winter Springs Florida and has hosted countless cultural & charity events all over Central Florida. Madison comes from the Midwest – born in Iowa and raised in a small town in Illinois. Madison graduated from the University of Illinois from the College of Business where she was very active with her nationally ranked co-ed A Capella Group – No Comment. With No Comment, she has performed all over the MidWest, in New York City’s Town Hall, and has Emceed for No Comment A Cappella’s annual spring show. Recently, she has moved to Florida to escape the cold and continue with her career as a Financial Advisor with Edward Jones Investments. She works with families and small businesses in the area by teaming together to understand what’s important to them, and providing client’s with their options to help them achieve their financial goals with phenomenal service. email@example.com
Brian Morgan Kirkland
One of Florida’s premiere air talents and hosts, Brian has been entertaining Central Floridians for more than 30 years as Brian Morgan on radio, TV and at live events. Brian taught radio production and programming at UCF and currently enjoys selling on Amazon, eBay and for Gizmo Productions. Brian also produces Internet radio stations, mobile entertainment and voice overs to help parks, cities and corporations make more money with his company Big Bark Communications in Oviedo. Rich Sloane has lived in Oviedo for 25 years. Since retiring from a career in the Navy, he has held a number of positions in Central Florida, including a stint as Executive Director of the Greater Oviedo Chamber of Commerce. Rich now works at UCF and volunteers at community events including Taste of Oviedo and as a member of the Rotary Club of Oviedo. Rich is married to his “Navy Wife” of 43 years, Margie. The Sloanes have two adult daughters.
